Introducing BeamCloud

Soft-body simulation for cars, robots and structures, running on our hardware and streamed to your browser. The private beta is open.

Two lattice beams under load in OpenBeam

Soft-body simulation shows how a design bends, dents and breaks, not just where the stress goes. It is also expensive to run. The solver needs dedicated CPU time, so most teams end up waiting on a workstation or a licence before they can try an idea.

BeamCloud moves all of that onto our hardware. You open a test in a browser tab and watch it run.

What it runs on

BeamCloud runs OpenBeam, our open-source soft-body engine. Every vehicle, robot and structure is a set of nodes joined by beams, and each beam has its own stiffness, yield point and breaking force. The solver steps at a fixed 2 kHz on dedicated cores, so a crash plays out the way the structure says it should.

What you can do with it

  • Script tests in AngelScript or Lua, and run many variations in parallel.
  • Drive vehicles and operate robot arms live while the solver runs.
  • Record runs with their inputs and physics data in sync, then replay them frame by frame.
  • Upload your own vehicles, robots, scripts and maps.
  • Run one simulation with several people at once.

From the test bench

Run experiments in parallel: one inside the design’s limits, one past it. Two examples:

0:00
/0:05
A coupe hits a rigid wall at 86 km/h. The crumple zone folds and the cabin keeps its shape.
0:00
/0:07
Dropped 12 m, the suspension runs out of travel and the body takes the rest of the impact.

The robot gripper and steel space frame tests are on the home page.

Pricing

Personal is $30 a month for 30 simulation hours. Business, for teams, is planned at $150 a month and is not open yet. Enterprise runs inside your own network; talk to us.

We are letting teams in gradually. Teams with a defined crash, deformation or contact problem get priority.
